At Hal & Al’s BBQ in Arlington, Virginia, barbecue is more than just food—it’s a story of heritage, flavor, and responsibility. We craft our halal barbecue using Black Angus beef, seasoned with a blend of global spices, smoked over hickory wood—the same wood once used by America’s founders. Our approach reflects the diversity of this nation: combining ingredients and traditions from across the world, yet rooted in American soil.
As passionate as we are about flavor, we’re equally committed to the planet. For every 20 lbs of wood we smoke, we plant one tree—an initiative that has already yielded over 1,100 trees since we opened. We believe in giving back to the very forests that fuel our fire.
We also operate with a zero-plastic philosophy. All of our serviceware—from bowls and lids to sauce containers and utensils—is fully compostable, both for dine-in and takeout. Sustainability is not a marketing angle for us—it’s a foundational part of how we do barbecue.
